MMTA's Music Connect Program - Evaluating, Visioning, Growing to Meet YOUR Needs!

MMTA’s Music Connect proudly stands to help you help your students who may be unable to fully fund private lessons for financial reasons. Your dedicated MMTA board has been working hard to find creative ways to support the mission of MMTA’s Music Connect Program.

Some of the amazing things this program offers:

-Tuition reimbursement grants to MMTA Member-Teachers at the rate of $60.00 an hour

- An easy-to-complete application

- Open to Independent Music Teachers of any instrument or voice, if you have a student in need

- Scholarship benefits akin to those offered by community music schools and conservatory prep departments

- Grants that are renewable for subsequent years!

- The ability to nurture studio goodwill and community service by “bridging” a student family over a difficult period, without any interruption in lessons

AND

For a limited time, MMTA will cover State and National Dues for a first-time member who has an approved Music Connect application!

Your dedicated MMTA Board, and particularly Vinh Pham, Jonathan Roberts, Rebecca Helm, and Esther Ning Yau, has been working hard to find creative ways to support the mission of YOURS and MMTA’s Music Connect Program.

We’ve been brainstorming ideas to promote the program.  Here is what we’ve done so far:

- Rebecca has released a new and energized all-member email and social media posts, describing the benefits and accessibility of the program

- Jonathan has created and implement an all-member survey that will help us measure our members’ awareness of and interest in MMTA’s Music Connect Program

- Vinh has created a great “Participant Experience Survey,” which many teachers have already filled out, detailing their level of satisfaction with their experience, and helping us identify areas of improvement

- Jonathan has prepared charts and graphs to demonstrate whom we’ve served

- Esther connected us with her colleague, Dr. Ian Saunders, Artistic Director of Project STEP, who has arranged for us to be a Project STEP collaborator.  This will enable students or siblings of students enrolled in that program to take advantage of tuition-free lessons offered through MMTA’s Music Connect Program!

Still in the works for future progress on the program:

- Produce a video about MMTA’s Music Connect Program and what it can do for our students/independent teachers.  This video could be shown at our competitions and perhaps posted on social media and our website

- Request from teachers who have participated in the program for “testimonials” as to how it has helped their students/families bridge difficult periods.  These will be shared in an anonymous way, on our website and on our video(s)

- Produce an e-postcard that can be released in all-member email

- Animate the e-card in such a way that it attracts attention when placed in the MMTA’s Music Connect Program section of our website

- Create a narrative as part of the video above, or another video (a composite of real students and their stories, but anonymous in all identifying factors…) that tells the story of students’ experience after having received this grant.  We've done nothing to follow up because of the anonymity of the program, but we can certainly imagine the benefits!

Please let us know if you would like to help or have any questions about this amazing program.

Our Mission Statement and Information:

MMTA believes that any child who has musical ability and interest in playing an instrument or singing deserves the opportunity to explore this talent.  The MMTA Music Connect Program (MCP) offers music lessons tuition-free to students who have a demonstrated financial need and will study with an MMTA member in good standing.  MMTA is thrilled to offer this program to our member teachers and their students!
