Seeking MTNA State Composition Competition Chair for MMTA

We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for passionate individuals to contribute to the growth and development of musical talent in Massachusetts. The MMTA is currently seeking applications for the position of MTNA State Composition Competition Chair.

Job Description:

The Composition Competition Chair will play a vital role in managing the entries from Massachusetts for the prestigious MTNA national composition competition. As the chair, you will oversee the processing of student entries by MTNA, ensuring adherence to all guidelines provided by the national coordinators. Acting as a liaison between competitors, their teachers, and the national coordinators, you will facilitate effective communication and coordination throughout the competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the submission and processing of student entries for the MTNA national composition competition.

  • Act as a liaison between competitors, their teachers, and the national coordinators, providing guidance and addressing inquiries related to the competition.

  • Select and engage judges for the competition, providing them with necessary instructions and arranging for their payment.

  • Maintain regular correspondence throughout the year regarding the competition, addressing questions and providing updates to all stakeholders.

  • Ensure all competition-related activities are conducted in accordance with the guidelines set forth by MTNA.

  • The term of the Composition Competition Chair is not limited to any specific number of years, offering flexibility and long-term involvement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Knowledge and passion for music composition and the competition process.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

  • Detail-oriented and attentive to guidelines and instructions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and national coordinators.

  • Previous experience in competition coordination or related fields is preferred but not required.
