Massachusetts Commissioned Composer David Ibbett will be performing and premiering his composition for piano entitled Heart of the Galaxy at the 1:00 session at Quad State in Saco, Maine.  This rhapsodic piece imagines a point in space where one can marvel at the total beauty of a black hole galaxy: a cosmic landscape brimming with complex, radiant features.

David has also created a student version of this piece which he will perform at the 1:00 session.  A hard copy will be available for attendees at the Quad State conference.  Members will also be able to access this online after the conference through a link on our website.

You can read more about David’s process of sonifying the sounds of our galaxy through his collaboration with scientists in a previous article.
